<p><b>The Writers, Producers and Directors Branch of BECTU - the
broadcasting and entertainment union - is hosting an expert
panel on the subject of:-</b></p>
<p><b>FUTURE FILM AND TV DISTRIBUTION AND NEW MEDIA</b></p>
<p>DIRECTORS - Are you looking for new opportunities to
distribute your films? Or worried about how your programmes are
going to be used in the future? Do you know about all the new
distribution platforms?” To find out about the latest
innovations in digital delivery systems, put this date in your
diary!</p>
<p>The aim of the New Media Event is to inform and educate our
members and other invited guests, to learn about the new
emerging distribution platforms for film and video.</p>
<p>Each speaker will present for 10 minutes and the audience
will then have the opportunity to ask the panel questions.</p>
<p><b>The subjects to be discussed include:-</b></p>
<ul>
<li>"Video on the Move" - delivering video content
to mobile phones, iPod users and Zune.</li>
<li>Blu-Ray & High Definition DVD: this market is tipped
to take over where standard DVDs left off.</li>
<li>User Generated Content websites. These include YouTube,
MySpace, SelfCast TV, FourDocs and Flux. This is a huge growth
area where ordinary people upload their videos to be viewed by
a global audience.</li>
<li>Convergence between traditional TV viewing and the
computer. eg. BT Vision has launched an interactive on-demand
service with content from MTV, Paramount and Nickleodeon.</li>
<li>Digital distribution of films to movie theatres. The new
technology will enable distributors to reduce their print and
logistical costs.</li>
<li>Interactive gaming and TV shows, as the crossover with the
internet gathers pace.</li>
