Building Communities and Networks Online Level 2 is an
intensive half day course which concentrates on exploring and
resolving the real-life editorial and technical issues that
media professionals face in managing their online community or
community of practice (COP).
The tutor is Lizzie Jackson, who created and ran BBC
Communities. She is now a Consultant for Online Communities at
Children's' BBC. She was voted 'One of the 100
Innovators of the UK Internet Decade' in October 2004 by NOP
World and e-consultancy.com. Lizzie also runs Building
Communities & Networks Online Level 1 for NMK.
The course structure:
This course enables media professionals to have access to the
benefits of consultancy without having to pay the high fees this
often incurs. The number of attendees is also capped so that
there should be sufficient time for all to have their own
concerns discussed.
Attendees will be required to supply certain information in
advance of the course. This information will include an overview
of the key issues they face, a strategic outline of their
community or COP's objectives, and details of their audience
and/or members. This will form the basis of the tasks and
analysis undertaken during the session.
In addition:
A full course outline and learning materials will be supplied.
Refreshments will also be included, along with a great
networking environment. Exclusive follow-up information will
provide delegates with an opportunity for ongoing support.
Previous participants said:
• "I can't find a record of me having thanked you
for your fantastic Building Online Communities last month, but I
hope I did. It was extremely useful and the two of us went away
really enthusiastic about improving and boosting our
communities."
• "Thank you very much for the course – it was most
instructive and has helped me define what I’m looking for from
the site far more clearly than previously."
