How can the innovations generated by London's digital enterprises be harnessed to improve and renew our vital public services?
This is the key theme of the WT2 (Working Together 2) conference, taking place in London on Tuesday 20th February 2007 at the vibrant new E1 cultural venue RichMix.
Building on the momentum created by Working Together in 2004, WT2 brings together a new partnership of collaborators with shared concerns about the limited role that digital innovators and entrepreneurs play in shaping how public services are delivered.
Digital innovation creating real value for the citizen? Both an online community and a 'café style' event, WT2 aims to harness collective intelligence and provide a forum for dialogue, ensuring that those commissioning technology based public sector services stay in touch with the fast evolving 'digital ecology', whilst those services that are deployed for the benefit of their 'customers' (citizens), are compelling and attractive.
The main event will take place in an 'open space' style and bring together citizens, strategists, policy makers, civil servants and entrepreneurs driving independent SMEs, in order to participate in a series of 'conversations' about the transformation of public sector services through the use of innovative technologies.
The day's topics will have been defined in the months before the event, via Policy Unplugged's proprietary collaboration engine. To participate in the online dialogue register at www.working2gether.net .
These debates will be complemented by the Marketplace, in which a dozen SMEs delivering products or services that contribute to the e-Government agenda, will showcase their offerings and allow participants the opportunity to meet with them one-to-one.
Event Format
Policy Unplugged use a unique blend of web based social tools
and open-space meeting formats to deliver social conferences for
organisations and communities in the media, technology and
public sectors. The content and themes of our events are framed
and shaped by the participants both in advance of the event and
on the day.
You can learn the general principles of Open Space in this excellent article by Alan Stewart. Open Space is used as:
- A simple, powerful way to catalyse effective working conversations and collaboration.
- A methodological tool that enables self-organising groups of all sizes to deal with hugely complex issues in a very short period of time.
- A powerful group process that supports positive transformation in organisations and communities, increases productivity, inspires creative solutions, improves communication and enhances commitment to goals and aspirations.
- The most effective process for communities to identify critical issues, voice their passions and concerns, learn from each other, and, when appropriate, take collective responsibility for finding solutions.
We look forward to your participation online and at the Live Event!
This event is a partnership venture between Prospect, Policy Unplugged, Silicon.com, NMK, PACT and Creative London.
