SOLD OUT!

2006 was an amazing year for innovation in new media and
saw the return of the million dollar bedroom developer and big
investments by large media organisations. 2007 promises to bring
even bigger changes.

Yet, in all this excitement, agencies are still renowned as
the producers of brochure-ware and banners rather than being
leaders in innovation. Are agency’s embracing the new internet
dawn?

To find out, NMK has teamed up with dynamo london, (a
showcase for London's hottest new media work) to explore
what commercial success will look like for new media, and how
the traditional role of the 'designer' is changing.

The Format:
This chaired discussion will include contributions from Nik
Roope creative director and co-founder of Poke, Jamie Riddel
director of innovation Cheeze, and Desiree Collier of
Marsteller.

The Discussion:
• What does innovation mean for the UKs new media
agencies?
• Is it possible to be paid to innovate?
• How are new media agencies adapting in light of current
internet developments?
• How are client demands and requirements changing, and what
types of services are now being offered?

The Speakers:

• (Chair) Frank Boyd has worked on a series of
innovative programmes to support creative, social and economic
development in the UK’s new media sector since founding the Arts
Technology Centre (Artec) in 1989. He established the European
Multimedia Labs, the Digital Media Alliance and BAFTA’s
Interactive Entertainment Awards before joining the BBC
Innovation and Learning team as Director of Creative Development
in 2000. At the BBC Frank directed a series of development labs
to support R&D in interactive television, broadband and
cross-platform production. After leaving the BBC he worked with
Creative London on a series of initiatives to encourage growth
in London digital media industries including the London Games
Festival and a new A/V market, Rights Lab. He is currently
responsible for creative direction of the BBC Innovation Labs
programme and leads the mentoring teams in this unique series of
Residential workshops BBC
Labs.
