Is your scanning as productive as it could be? And is the quality going to stand the test of time? A new course from the Image Network on 17th July is designed to help companies cash in on their investment in scanning equipment and stay in business with a productive workflow.

The course Scanning for Quality and Productivity is designed to help scanning departments, production departments, picture libraries and photographers get the best results from their scans. Tutor Graeme Cookson is a digital imaging consultant and photographer with a background in pre-press, and works with consultancy and training company Electric Lane. He says “I have worked with a variety of companies on scanning and they would agree there is always something more to learn both in terms of quality control and workflow issues. It’s easy to forget that the investment in scanning doesn’t stop with the equipment. Ongoing training and monitoring are needed to make full use of the new technology.”

He adds “The industry has reached a point where the RGB workflow needs skills on a level with those of the CMYK pre-press specialists, so that people can supply and receive digital files with confidence. There’s a way to go, but companies which address the issues now will certainly have the edge.”

The Image Network web site www.theimagenetwork.co.uk has details of this and other courses and networking events, as well as information on digital imaging from a number of industry perspectives. Users can leave their e-mail for regular updates on new events and information, and for those
registering between now and the end of October there’s a special discount on the first course booked.

Graeme Cookson has worked in the print industry and as a freelance photographer. He is a specialist in digital imaging and graphics workflow solutions and works as a consultant with Electric Lane advising and training picture libraries, publishers, photographers and commercial companies.
