Synthesising Reality
Synthesising reality showcases a rich and varied mix of artistic, commercial and academic projects which have been developed with real time 3d applications and visual simulation software.This evening event at BAFTA on Tuesday 26th November starts at 6.30pm and is presented by NMK and BAFTA. The Creative Alchemy season is sponsored by Business Link for London.
A wide and eclectic range of virtual reality and real-time 3D projects will be exhibited alongside practical demonstrations of new technologies and software products interspersed with short presentations. This unique event will demonstrate how various types of 3D virtual environment software are increasingly being adapted for use in live performance, PC games, urban planning, industrial and aerospace product design testing and training simulations.
Drinks and snacks are included in the ticket price, and the exhibition space is designed to encourage informal networking between delegates.

- Igloo explore metaphysical worlds using video, internet, performance and installation and will show extracts from their performance CD-ROM Windowsninetyeight which was nominated for the 2002 BAFTA interactive awards. www.igloo.org.uk
- Antycip will screen various training and urban simulation projects in a portable Visionstation - a one person hemispherical display system which places the viewer in a immersive 3D environment. The real time 3D software package used in these commissions is currently licensed to more than 50 games development companies. www.antycip.com
- Glassworks will be explaining how they produced a mobile virtual reality Grand Prix driving attraction for Orange to create brand awareness for the Arrows Racing Team. www.glassworks.co.uk
- Research students from Cambridge University Department of Architecture's Digital Research Studio will present their prototype Haven Project, using a variety of virtual cinematic 3D computer games to stage narrative events inside a virtual techniques. www.caret.cam.ac.uk/hefce/haven.htm
- Orad will be demonstrating Cyberset - a virtual set that seamlessly integrates live presenters and actors with 3D, computer-generated environments. www.orad.tv

Students on the Virtual Reality Design degree at the
University of Wolverhampton's School of
Engineering and the Built Environment have created
a game level of a fantasy village to investigate the use of
various packages for designing and generating efficient, low

- Vizrt will be unveiling for the first time a real-time 3D graphics system for 35mm productions using the video assist camera on the side of 35mm camera bodies, and will also be demonstrating their real-time 3D graphics system for television currently used by ITV news. www.vizrt.com
