Musicbrigade UK will be based in London and staffed initially
by a team of three: Ludvig Yettergren, Senior VP of Business
Development and Sales, Nick Watt, VP of Business Development and
Sales and Chris Houghton, UK Content Manager. The UK office will
be first fully staffed operation that the company has opened
outside Sweden.
Musicbrigade has access to the biggest online music video
library in Europe and currently offers over 13,000 videos as a
streaming service on a £7.99 per month subscription basis. Users
are also able to digitally download music videos on an ‘a la
carte’ basis.
Audio download service to grow incrementally
The company are also launching an audio download service this
month, with an audio subscription service to follow.
Musicbrigade is at pains, however, to stress that the audio
download service will be rolled out over the summer as releases
come online and that the audio download service will not be
complete at launch.
The site will differentiate itself from most of the other
digital music stores in the UK by developing rich editorial
content throughout the site, and will be announcing an editorial
director in the near future. Ludvig Yttergren, Senior VP of
Business Development and Sales for Musicbrigade UK claims that
“to succeed as a digital music store its not a question of
having the biggest catalogue – basically everyone is offering
pretty much the same audio content.
Video augmented by display, merchandise &
editorial
“Success will depend on how you display, merchandise and
package the music,” he continued. “By providing a wealth of
supporting editorial content we can help users access and
discover more music. Our aim is to deliver a service that
intrigues, inspires and ultimately provides the customer with a
rewarding and fulfilling experience.”
Musicbrigade is planning to build on the success of its many
business-to-business activities throughout Scandinavia and other
European territories. The company are currently working with a
number of brands such as
Fujitsu
Siemens, as well as several ISP’s and mobile networks across
Europe. Musicbrigade is already working successfully with
MSN in the UK
providing, managing and hosting music videos available on the
site’s video service.
Yttergren said: “Musicbrigade has already proved itself to be a
highly successful business model in Scandinavia where it has
been operational for many years and our decision to open a UK
office reflects the opportunities we perceive for the company in
this market place. Our music video streaming and download
service is unparalleled and we are working on developing an
audio service that will rival the best currently available. We
are extremely confident that Musicbrigade will become a very
strong brand in the UK and are already delighted with the
progress we are making on both a B2C and a B2B basis.”
