Sony DADC, the world’s largest provider of pre-recorded optical discs, has launched a Brand Media Manager online service for marketing communications professionals to store and share brand and media assets.

Brand Media Manager was originally created by Austria-based Sony DADC as an advanced resource for marketing staff at Sony Europe to securely store 50,000 digital assets online - within an expandable 90 terabytes of capacity.

The project has been so successful during the past two years that Brand Media Manager is now being opened up as a hosted subscription service that can be accessed 24x7 by registered users.

Brand Media Manager features include:

• Customised metadata fields and asset types - to provide users with 24x7 access and support for multiple media types and ensure maximum brand integrity
• Advanced search engine - to locate media quickly and efficiently
• Flexible hosted technology - that can be expanded as required
• User friendly interface with bespoke design - to reflect company branding
• Multi-lingual Sony DADC call centre - covering all time zones
• Adaptable subscription fees - based on user numbers and storage capacity

The technology has transformed marketing activities at Sony Europe by providing a highly secure online marcomms resource for 2,500 global users and eliminated the task of distributing thousands of images a month on CDs to more than 20 countries.

“Sony DADC’s system has utterly revolutionised how we operate,” says Dave West, Senior Manager Marketing Communications at Sony Communications Europe based in the UK.

With digital asset management becoming mission critical, Sony DADC is confident that it’s new subscription service will become a popular resource for marketing staff working with large catalogues of brand assets.

“Marketing departments can suffer from brand misuse, increased costs, and delays in product launches without an effective digital asset management strategy in place but Brand Media Manager solves these problems with dramatic time-savings,” says Jason Noble, Sony DADC Projects and Accounts Manager in the UK.
