PR: Hags Harlots Heroines
Spreading the word about a new story telling site about all those hags, harlots and heroines that have inspired over the ages.
www.hagsharlotsheroines.com is a pioneering story telling site brought to you by Genderquake Limited.
It's free to sign up, and members get access to a rich range of content about all those hags, harlots and heroines that have inspired over the ages. The site is keen to publish members work, and theres a new section in the Info and Bytes section called the Writers Toolkit where members can make contributions. Even if youre not an aspiring writer, but you're interested in gender debates, by signing up you'll receive a monthly newsletter bringing a hag, harlot or heroine into your intray to amuse, and inspire.
There are two imminent things to draw people's attention to. The first is a story telling competition in October, and the second is an event in Brighton at the end of this month in association with ABCtales. Please read the information below and spread the word!
Competition
To celebrate All Hallows Eve, aka Halloween, the site is running a competition in conjunction with ABCtales around the theme of saints, souls, ghosts and ghouls. To enter send in your tale, or poem, of no more than 1,000 words about a hag, harlot or heroine, real or fictional, associated with Halloween or witchcraft. Complete the form in the Post Your Story section of our site. Entries must be received by 22nd October and the winning tale will be announced on both sites and published as November's Story of the Month.
Forthcoming Event
Two days before Halloween, on Friday 29th October, the site is joining forces with ABCtales and hosting an 'All Hags Night', an evening of fine wine (!) and literature celebrating glorious ghouls and wicked witches at The Eagle, 125 Gloucester Road, Brighton, 8pm onwards. Entry is 3 at the door and there is a paying bar. If you want to reserve a place please call 0870 770 3295, or email enquiries@hagsharlotsheroines.com.
Sign up and tell your friends and contacts about the site!
If you like what you read, and know of other women and writers out there who you think will be interested in the site, then please let them know! Its easy: theres a special email a friend button on every page of the site. So please do use it and encourage your networks, friends, and contacts to register and join as well as enter the competition, and better still even attend our forthcoming event in Brighton!
Offer your skills and join the hags harlots heroines team!
If you have skills which you think are beneficial to this story telling site, and you're interested in offering time and help and joining the hags harlots heroines team, then contact Laura@genderquake.com or ring her on 0870 770 3295 (ideally on Thursdays).
The site is a labour of love at the moment, but as it builds members, and as more people hear about it, hopefully it will be made sustainable. So if you want to be part of a creative team developing your skills and experience, and doing something for 'herstory', which celebrates women's lives and challenges gender stereotypes, then please get in touch!
Cause Related Marketing Opportunities
If you work in organisations that are interested in promoting gender equality through cause related marketing, then www.hagsharlotsheroines.com, like its sister, www.genderquake.com, is also open to discussions about sponsorship and partnership opportunities including site sponsorship, and events sponsorship. If you wish to explore some ideas, you can contact Laura@genderquake.com or ring her on 0870 770 3295 (ideally on Thursdays).
