Download the presentation, plus comprehensive additional notes, from this evening seminar which examined how the European E-commerce Directive could affect your business.

At this evening seminar on the 9th April 2002, Colm Kelly from legal firm Briffa presented an informative and entertaining guide to the UK's soon to be implemented E-commerce Regulations and what they could mean for your company with regard to its online trading and marketing activities. His talk focused on the following areas:
  • Trading online
  • What rules apply
  • Information to be provided
  • Direct Marketing
The European E-Commerce Directive governs how business and services are conducted online. The E-commerce Directive is intended to develop consumer confidence in online trading, and to standardise online trading law for e-commerce businesses throughout the EU. If you operate, design or build e-commerce applications, are involved in email marketing, online advertising or publishing, provide services over the internet, or conduct any elements of your business online, the new regulations could apply to you. The UK's draft regulations were published on 7th March 2002, to allow a period of consultation prior to the implementation of the regulations in the UK in June 2002.
